These three volumes of autobiography, notes, memoranda, diaries, letters, articles and biographical fragments, together with papers which Goddard wrote on technical subjects, document the life of the father of modern rocketry. Goddard was responsible for developing many of the most significant aspects of modern exploration. He took out patents on such basic concepts as "the idea multi-stage rockets (1914)." Goddard combined new theoretical principles with their exemplification practical devices, an extraordinary example of double career, university professor of physics and practical engineer.
